There are many digital media products on the market and all of them make claims to offer something new and exciting. Apple leads as the innovator of much of the new technology in concerns to phones and audio media today.

Two of the hottest products on the market today incidentally are both Apple products. The iPhone 4 and the iPad are digital devices that offer a plethora of features and applications that makes it difficult to decide on which is the better device between the two.

The decision is really based on what you can afford and the applications you expect to utilize. The iPhone has a minimum hard drive size of 16GB and a maximum size of 32GB. The maximum size averages $299 and the iPhone 4 with the smaller hard drive is $100 less.

If price is an issue for you the iPhone 16GB will be your best buy because the iPad starts at $499. This is a $300 difference. To put this into perspective you can buy two iPhones for the cost of one iPad.

This seems insane when you consider that both have many of the same features. Its almost fits the old cliche of comparing apples to apples – no pun intended. Both devices have internet access features, calendar creation, video and photo viewing, and mapping applications.

The difference comes in obvious ways. The iPad, for example, may allow you to do many of the same things that the iPhone 4 allows, but it is not a phone. If you want a phone and the portability that you can carry in your pocket the iPhone 4 is the way to go. The iPhone will also be the Apple of choice if you’re interested in video calling. This is a one of a kind feature that is currently new in technology and exclusive to the iPhone 4.

If you’re much more concerned, on the other hand, about having a bigger screen to enhance the viewing of videos and the reading of eBooks you may want to think large. And the iPad is definitely large. With a 9.7 inch screen it doesn’t get much better in the area of movie and video viewing. The large screen is also convenient for accessing touch applications such as maps and photo slide shows.

All in all both devices offer excellent technology. What you buy solely depends on what you need.
